After leaving Peacock Park, cross McFarlane and start heading back toward Grand Avenue. You will come to the Coconut Grove Branch Library, where you can stop to check out a book about seafaring from their unique Sea Life collection. The library’s grounds also contain the county’s oldest marked grave – belonging to Eva Munroe, the Commodore’s first wife who died in 1882. Continue on McFarlane, walking past the Sonesta Resort.
When you get to Johnny Rockets, cross Grand Avenue and you will be facing the Cocowalk fountain. Turn to the Right and walk to The Streets of Mayfair, an open-air mall with over 2 blocks of shops. Although the fun really doesn’t start until the evening, you can enjoy the shopping here all day long. In addition to the standard chains such as Bath & Body Works and The Limited, more exotic shops include Cuban Pete’s Cigar Lounge and Jus D’Orange – which sells sexy Brazilian fashions. Be sure to take a look in Out of Africa – a warm and inviting shop featuring African art and collectibles. At night, you can return for a show at Improv Comedy Club, followed by a daiquiri at Wet Willie’s.
