If you are flying to Miami and will need a rental car, you can easily rent a car at Miami International Airport.
Most of the major car rental companies are represented at or near MIA. The biggest companies have counters at the airport, inside the baggage claim area on the Ground Level. You can check in at these counters, but you must then take the company’s courtesy shuttle to an off-site location to pick-up the car. There are more car rental companies located near the airport, but without counters inside. They offer courtesy shuttles as well.
To catch your shuttle, stand outside of the baggage claim terminal and wait until you see your rental company’s shuttle. Flag them down as they approach.
When returning your rental car, note that all rental cars must be returned at the rental company lots located near the airport, in the “airport triangle” area. There are no returns inside of the airport. This area is an easy place to get lost, so make sure that the company gives you return directions when you are first picking up your rental car.
