This chain is very popular, and a great place for families looking for inexpensive Cuban food in a casual environment. There are tons of choices on the menu including beef, steak, pork, seafood, chicken, sandwiches, soups, and omelettes. Cubans are big meat-eaters, so dont expect much in the salad or veggie department. There are also lots of traditional desserts to choose from, such as flan, rice pudding, and tres leches.
I bring my family there often for the tasty and affordable dishes. The black beans and rice are always a must, and I love the Shrimp Ajillo with plenty of roasted garlic. My husband enjoys the traditional Ropa Vieja shredded beef served in a tomato creole sauce. There are lots of kid-friendly choices, even the most picky eater can have a grilled cheese sandwich and fries.
The Key Biscayne location is a very casual place, with booths as well as open tables. Not a whole lot of attention is put into the décor. It is very family-friendly and the people are easy-going. Though the service could be speeded up a bit.
