WHAT:

Started in 1976 by descendants of the Bahamian immigrants who first settled Coconut Grove, today Goombay is one of the largest Black heritage festivals in the U.S.

The fest is a ton of fun for all, the highlight being the amazingly colorful junkanoo costumes on parade. There's also music, activities for kids, and vendors selling a variety of arts, crafts and food.

WHEN:

Festival events will take place during August 2-5, 2012. Visit the Festival Web Site for details.

WHERE:

The street festival stretches from Grand Ave/Douglas Rd (S.W. 37 Avenue) through Margaret Street, in Coconut Grove. Smaller events are held at other locations in Coconut Grove.
