Guide Review - Hotel Review: Miami River Inn
Built nearly 100 years ago, this quaint bed and breakfast (Miami’s only one) transports you back in time. The cozy rooms are decorated with antiques from the early 1900s, and dark wicker furniture sits on attractive hardwood floors. The mattresses are not the most comfortable, and the bedding is clean but well-worn. All-white bathrooms are spacious, and some have claw-footed tubs. Rooms on the upper floors have outstanding views of the Miami River or the downtown skyline.

Like a bit of Key West right in the heart of Downtown Miami, the Inn is surrounded by inviting porches, lush tropical plants and palm trees – not to mention dozens of cats. In the small lobby area - which looks more like a living room from 1910 - you can browse through old books about Miami’s history.

A simple continental breakfast is included for all guests – and you can have it at one of the tables scattered throughout the garden. Later in the day, enjoy a dip in the pool or Jacuzzi. The Inn is very centrally located, and is in easy driving distance to the airport, cruise port, and Miami Beach. The surrounding neighborhood is a little seedy – as is the case in all of Downtown - but the grounds and parking area are enclosed by large iron gates. The grounds are perfectly safe, but it would be best not to walk the outside streets at night.

The Inn is small, with only 40 rooms, and the staff is very friendly. You can expect a much warmer welcome that you would get at a typical large hotel. If you are seeking cozy, quiet, and affordable accommodations in Miami then this is the place for you!
